Longview Partnership Announces 2007 Awards Recipients

On Thursday, January 17, 2008, over six hundred business people gathered at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center to celebrate the Longview Partnership’s best of 2007. The 2008 Annual Banquet was emceed by CBS 19 evening anchors Randy Lynn and Lisa Spooner. Special guests in attendance included State Representative Tommy Merritt, Gregg Country Judge Bill Stoudt, and City of Longview Mayor Jay Dean.

The special guest keynote speaker, Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Dave Lieber, gave a rousing presentation chronicling how he, a native New Yorker, became a true Texas. Dave has won the Katie award from the Dallas Press Club as the Best Columnist in the U.S. Southwest, and he has also won the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award as the columnist whose work produced positive effects on the lives of readers.

The following award winners were announced: STEMCO LP -- 2007 Manufacturer of the Year; Eastman Chemical Company, Texas Operations – 2007 Large Business of the Year; Debbie Crabtree, Capital One – 2007 Ambassador of the Year; Mike Baker, FastSigns – 2007 Committee Chairman of the Year; and Lester Lucy, BancorpSouth – 2007 Chairman’s Award Honoree.

The 2007 Chairman of the Board is Suzanne Cook (Suzanne Cook and Company), and the 2008 Board Chairman is Jimmy Howell.
