Community Pride Committee

Committee Objective:

The Longview Partnership’s (LP) goal is to coordinate a collaborative effort between the LP, Keep Longview Beautiful (KLB), City of Longview, and other stakeholders to identify and complete appearance improvement projects and ensure beautification efforts are completed which in turn enhance the economic development potential of the community by improving the image of the community and Quality of Life of Longview.

Projects:

Coordinate with the City of Longview and LBA to complete the process of becoming a KAB affiliate.  This includes, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop a strong, broad-based organizational structure, including representation and input from all segments of the community.
  • Coordinate efforts which will improve the looks of Longview by beautifying our surroundings.
  • Engage in positive activities that beautify, clean up, sustain, and improve our community.
  • Pruning and planting trees and flowers, landscaping, graffiti abatement, and cleanups.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and promote a public education and communication initiative regarding litter/solid waste.
  • Review local ordinances to ensure consistent and effective enforcement of solid waste.
  • Create valid measurement and assessment tools for all related programs. Plan and stage a reward/recognition programs to provide incentives for a clean community.
  • Serve as liaison between the City of Longview and businesses, schools, civic clubs, and churches regarding concerns and ieas that impact cleanliness of our community.
  • Serve as liaison for the City of Longview to current and future special assignment committees or ad hoc groups created to plan, implement, and promote identified projects and programs.
  • Prepare an annual performance report based on identified  work plan outlined in Scope of Services.
  • Represent the city statewide and at the national level through various related and professional organizations. In partnership with the City of Longview and Keep Longview Beautiful,  consider opportunities for alternative funding streams for identified special projects.
  • LP will work closely with the City Manager’s Office and its designee to coordinate the professional services rendered.
  • Explore Keep America Beautiful programs for implementation in Longview.
  • Begin hosting hospitality workshops
