Economist Dr. Ray Perryman to Address Area Businesses


With tensions brimming throughout the world, energy markets in turmoil, immigration and health care policies uncertain, and budget and trade deficits at high levels, the future of the economy is anything but clear. Dr. Ray Perryman will present his economic outlook for Gregg, Upshur and Rusk Counties on Wednesday, December 19th.

The 2007 conference will discuss how the recent growth rate well surpasses the average productivity increase over the past 30 years. As higher energy prices are integrated into the overall costs of business operations, upward pressure

will likely be placed on the prices of various goods and services. At the conference, Dr. Perryman will try to make sense of it all and share some predictions for the future. Participants will also receive a collection of narratives, graphs and tables related to the material discussed.

The conference, from 11:30 am to 1:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Country Club is presented by the Longview Partnership and sponsored by Longview Regional Hospital. Cost is $20 for Chamber members and $30 for the general public. Participants will receive narratives, graphs, and tables related to the material discussed. The session will also serve as the Chamber's fourth quarter membership meeting.
 
Dr. Perryman is Founder and President of the Perryman Group, an economic research and consulting organization. An influential and innovative economist, he directs national and international projects in economic development, regulatory analysis, impact assessment, and economic modeling. Dr. Perryman was nominated for the 2004 Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
