Dear Fellow Texans:
Please join me and millions of our fellow Americans across the nation in recognizing the National Day of Prayer.
So many of us incorporate prayer into our spiritual practice and our daily routines, but the power of this day lies in the sheer number of Americans gathering, in communities across Texas and the nation, united in one voice in prayer.
Today we meditate on Daniel 9:19, the theme chosen for this year’s reflection: “O Lord, Listen! O Lord, Forgive! O Lord, Hear and Act! For Your Sake, O My God.”
The United States of America was founded upon a tradition of faith and a corresponding set of values. More than 200 years later, we still strive towards living out those values every day.
As Americans from different faiths come together in recognition and awe of a Higher Power, we reflect on the message of Daniel 9:19 by humbly acknowledging our shortcomings and asking Him for forgiveness, strength, and wisdom to do good in our communities and the world around us.
In closing, let’s all endeavor to continue praying with grateful hearts for our nation, for those who keep her safe, and for the diverse friends and neighbors who make this country great.
May God bless you, and may He continue to bless the Great State of Texas.
United States Senator
